Finding The Right Family Holiday Western Australia
29-Nov-2011 When everyone in the family seems to have an opinion on what they want to see and do it can be hard to find the perfect location for spending a few weeks break. However, with your eye firmly on the `golden outback` and its combination of sun drenched shores, water sports and unique landscapes you will be able to satisfy every request!
Western Australia`s two main areas, `Australia`s North West` and the `golden outback` literally do have something for everyone. Although this in turn may lead to a few debates about what to see and do first, this adventure playground makes for an action packed family vacation.
To start with there is Western Australia`s renowned reputation for breathtaking and challenging surf. Here both young and old can try their hand at surfing or body boarding, snorkeling or even swimming with the dolphins.
The beaches in Western Australia make sure all ages are catered for and none so much as the beaches at Perth. For example, Cottesloe Beach is a popular place for a family day out. On the beach here, on the local lawns or at the playground families can enjoy a picnic and play games.
From the water world to a world high up in the trees, Western Australia`s tingle trees provide a perfect home to a family day out. At the Valley of the Giants Tree Top Walk you learn about the ancient trees and their accompanying landscape, all viewed from a unique and exciting birds-eye perspective.
Further up the coast, towards the Northern tip of Western Australia, at Talbot Bay is the spectacular Horizontal Waterfalls. A white water ocean rushing up against a narrow passageway amongst the cliffs creates this dramatic water spectacle. Take the family to view this picturesque site by plane or by sea safari, although make sure you book well in advance.
In addition to the great outback on view in this part of Australia, art and culture also plays a large part in the most popular family sites. If you are looking for a few more clues as to the history of this amazing country then you will not be disappointed. With its routes in myth, ritual and spirituality, Indigenous art and its depiction of ancestral spirits is well documented in Western Australia.
Take a trip to Kununurra to see this for yourself at the largest Aboriginal Art gallery in the world. Although, if it is ancient art you are after try The Kimberley. A key wilderness area within Western Australia, the landscape offers overwhelming views and a chance to meet local people and learn about their history. This history of course is also told through the many ancient cave paintings and rock art you will find on your explorations.
With all this and much, much more, Western Australia is a great choice for a family holiday, whether you are the type of family who prefer a hotel stay or a holiday in one of the many different comfy and cosy
holiday cottages on offer. Whatever you decide to do and see here and where ever you decide to stay, this will be one of the most unforgettable journeys you and your family will ever make.
