Australind have a small selection of caravan and camping parks to suit everyone close to Australind or Bunbury and some basic camping grounds in the local National Parks.

Leschenault Peninsula Conservation Park

Leschenault Peninsula Conservation Park  bounded on one side by the Indian Ocean & Leschenault Estuary. the park is very popular for fishing & aquatic recreation such as snorkelling & diving. a paradise for bird watchers and nature lovers with 60 different species of birds living in the park. Enjoy a short scenic walk around the park to discover some of the wildlife and enjoy the picturesque surroundings.

Facilities & activities:

Gas and wood barbecues, bushwalking, cycling, camping, caravan area, universal access, fishing, hiking, information bay, picnic area, snorkelling, toilets.

If you have time, it is well worth taking a one and a half hour walk or ride along the trail that leads you down to the estuary where dolphins can be spotted swimming through the still waters. Remember to bring along your binoculars and camera to capture the abundant wildlife living in this sanctuary.

Only walking and cycling are permitted across most of the Park. However, 4WD beach access is available from Buffalo Beach. There is a 4km estuary walk / cycle trail which will take you about 1.5 hours. If you are lucky you may see dolphins which can be regularly spotted swimming through the still waters. An information panel tells you which direction to take.

Remember to bring your binoculars and camera to observe and capture the abundant wildlife living in the park. The park is popular for bird watching with over 60 species being recorded. Watch the dolphins at play on the southern and western sides of the peninsula.

Take advantage of the beautiful surroundings and allow plenty of time to explore all it has to offer by camping at the park's pleasant campsites.

Dogs are not permitted within the Leschenault Peninsula Conservation Park except at Buffalo beach where they must remain on a lead.

 

Things to do:
Follow the scenic 15 minute drive along the Old Coast Road from Bunbury to enjoy the views of the Leschenault Estuary before turning into the conservation park. Stop at the information bay to plan your visit and park your car.

Take advantage of the beautiful surroundings and allow plenty of time to explore all it has to offer by camping at the park’s pleasant campsite.

Camping Fees:

  • $7.00 per adult per night (children over 15 are considered Adults)
  • $5.00 per pension concession per night (seniors card and some disability cards)
  • $2.00 per child between ages 6-15 per night

Rangers patrol the park daily to collect fees.

Western Australia has quite a variety of Caravan and Camping parks from 5star sites with all the amenities or right on the beach to bushcamping in the outback under the stars. Its very important that you do some research before you decide to travel around WA especially in School holidays and be prepared for what can happen, travel distances are large from town to town with many of the roadhouses in  between also have areas where you can stay for a night and also roadside stops are available for overnight stays.
